When reading the word you will find that God has a history of guiding and giving instruction to those who will follow. There is an ongoing comparison between a shepherd who tends and rears sheep and God rearing his children each and every day.
In Psalm 23, David writes a psalm honoring God as Jehovah Raah, our shepherd. Whether we realize it or not God guides and directs our steps if we allow him. He loves us and he wants to ensure that we are always with him, protected, and well taken care of. The beauty of A shepherd is that of one sheep goes astray, the shepherd goes to find the one. In the same way, when we go astray God comes after us to bring us back with the rest of the flock.
We make decisions everyday and sometimes we don’t consult God forgetting that he is ready and willing to guide us. Today, read all of Psalm 23 and make a list of decisions that you need to make. They may be decisions regarding your job, a relationship, finances, and even God. Whatever it is, ask God to show you what to do. He’s there with open ears waiting for us to simply ask with heart to obey.
Remember God loves you just as a parent or guardian loves you. He will not lead you astray even when you think you’re going the wrong direction. There is peace, security, and safety that comes with surrendering to God’s leading in every aspect of our lives. Trust God, surrender, listen, and follow.
