In Genesis 15, God tells Abram that he will receive a reward. Abram reminds God of his limitation of being childless and he told God he planned to make his servant Eliezer the heir of his house. God immediately shuts that plan down and lets Abram know that he will give him an heir from his own body. God goes on to further remind Abram of the authority he holds as Adonai.
The level of authority that God speaks and move in always blows my mimd. This scenario reminded me of the many times I’ve heard a promise from God yet I would become doubtful when certain things weren’t aligning to what God promised. Looking back at some of the promises fulfilled, God moved in a way that only He can move.
As Lord and Master, God holds all the power and authority. What makes him even more honorable is that even as Adonai, he still gives us the opportunity to choose his will or our own and in that he still loves and stays with us no matter what decisions we make.
Today, read all of Genesis 15 and pay close attention to how God speaks to Abram. Reflect on how God has shown himself as Adonai in your life and write a letter thanking him for being Lord of your life. The way he rules is far greater than any man today has ever attempted to rule. He governs us with love, grace, and mercy while empowering us with the same power and authority if we take the time to connect with him and tap into it.
