When Hiding is Not an Option!
Lately, I’ve encountered quite a few people who know God has called them to greatness, but they refuse to face their problems. They’d rather skate through life thinking they can hide things from God and get it together before Christ comes back. Mind you God already said we wouldn’t know when He will return (Matthew 24:26; Mark 13:32). It's very unfortunate that there are believers who really believe there is no reason to repent and obey God in this season. Understand that God is gracious and merciful while also being a just God who does give consequences.
Let’s consider David who slept with a married woman, got her pregnant and then basically murdered her husband. God sent the Prophet Nathan to rebuke David who initially tried to act like he had done nothing wrong. Nathan tried to be discreet and given a parable and David, not using common sense, made it appear as if Nathan was talking about someone else. 🤦🏾♀️ Tragic, I know! So, Nathan told him straight up, that he has messed up, sinned against God, and God was not happy about it. Thankfully, David was humble enough to confess his sin and repent, but he still had to live through the consequences of seeing his wives taken away and going to bed with other men publicly and losing the child Bathsheba carried. Now, due to his repentance (CHANGED ways) God redeemed him with Solomon (2 Samuel 12:1-25)
Now, we also have Jonah who thought he was going to tell God who and who would not receive a word from the Lord. God told him to deliver a message to the people of Nineveh and Jonah went the opposite direction. Once again, God arranged for Jonah to get the great awakening by being swallowed by a fish for 3 days and 3 nights. Taking heed to what was happening Jonah prayed his little heart out and repented. Guess what?! He was finally freed from the fish and he obeyed God and went to Nineveh (Jonah 1-3).
There are many more examples in the Bible, but these are just to show you that God sees, hears, and knows all. While many try to hide from man and do things in private the one who has the power to give and take life has already seen what you’ve done. Consider this to be your Nathan or stuck in a fish moment where you realize that it’s time to repent and obey. In both cases, God showed mercy as a result of David and Jonah’s obedience and from that many were blessed. Understand that all things will come to light so rather than living in an internal prison, repent and be free to be all God called you to be!
“For there is nothing that is hidden that won’t be disclosed, and there is no secret that won’t be brought out into the light! If you understand what I’m saying, you need to respond!”
