Loving Beyond Reciprocation
Studying the love of God really teaches me about loving beyond reciprocation. We as humans can be so fickle and emotional to where we stop loving people when they don't return a call, leave you, or decrease their time with you. Christ loved those who truly hated him, those who betrayed him, and those who walked away from him. His ability to consistently love is what helped him to maintain a pure heart for those who needed his love. I personally was raised being told if they don't show you love then you don't show them love. That mindset made it extremely easy for me to treat people like they were dispensable.
Loving like Christ does not always feel logical. There's such a bigger picture one has to see in order to truly love. I've been challenged to love those most would say ... yea they're not loyal or they're not worth my time. I could say adios, but doing that prevents me from loving like Christ. He loved those who others deemed as being unloveable.
With this revelation, I'm freed from allowing people to determine how I love. Instead, I choose to allow God to direct how I love. So, to the ones who invest their time, money, or love to someone who doesn't reciprocate it, don't let it change how you love. God sees all and will honor your choice to love like him!
