The Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde Complex!
It's a sad thing when the church building is filled with Dr. Jekyll's and Mr. Hyde's. The lack of consistency within and beyond the church is a bit disturbing and deceiving to new believers, as well as, unbelievers. What I love about Jesus was his ability to go out into the world without looking like the world. He stepped in and changed the atmosphere and that is what changed the person.
Too many times believers stoop down to the level of the world thinking they are going to raise them up only to realize they have stepped outside the Spirit of God and moved into a place of the flesh causing them to stumble.
Christianity is a lifestyle and should not be compartmentalized for the comfort of the world. Acts 17:28 reminds us that it is in Christ that we live, and move and have our being. Everything we say and do should reflect Christ. No, it does not happen overnight, but it also doesn't happen without having a healthy relationship with Christ. Meaning, you seek Christ, so you have a clear understanding of what it looks like to walk in his spirit. How do you seek Christ?...Yes, reading the good ole BIBLE will help you start your journey.
Oh, and it gets better because as you build a consistent, healthy relationship, Christ begins to speak louder and your ears and eyes become more sensitive to him. Then through obedience, he begins to trust you and starts activating more and more gifts within you which allows you to become a greater asset to the Kingdom.
You see, being a believer is not just answering the call to salvation and getting baptized. It's far greater than that! Your commitment to Christ and consistency following Christ will determine the pace at which you grow and function as a reflection of Christ within and beyond the walls of the church building. Remember there are many levels to relationships and our goal should be to grow and foster those relationships, so let us move higher and higher in our relationship with the most important person we know.... Jesus Christ!
