We Exist for God's Glory!
God has blessed me with many gifts and I used to struggle with embracing the gifts because I was always listening to what someone else thought about them rather than what God told me about them.
If someone said I couldn't sing or write, I would shut down and stop doing it. Yes, I know this is a horrible way to live, but for many people this is their current situation. If someone doesn't acknowledge them for what they are doing, they stop doing it not realizing that God may simply be doing a faithfulness and humility check.
Think about how many times we posted something, went somewhere, or did something just to hear somebody say, "You did a great job!" Or how about dating or "hanging out" with someone just to have someone tell you how nice you look and how great you are... **crickets** okay well you may not admit it, but I've been there. Some people will go against everything God has told them just to be accepted or praised by a person. Unfortunately, doing that always sets you back.
God had to set me straight and quickly remind me that my existence is completely for his glory. Romans 11:36 (AMP) reads,
"For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things. [For all things originate with Him and come from Him; all things live through Him, and all things center in and tend to consummate and to end in Him.] To Him be glory forever! Amen (so be it).”
The NLT versions says,
"For everything comes from him and exists by his power and is intended for his glory. All glory to him forever! Amen.”
With that being said, we need to think less about what people will say and consider more of what God will say. One thing that God tells me often is to never allow the praise or criticism of others determine how much effort I put into the things He has called and equipped me to do. I had to allow God to control the path he created for me and avoid falling into the enemy's trap of seeking approval of man over God.
Understand, that everyone is not going to like the steps you take. Not everyone will tell you how well you are doing, but don't worry because what you do should never be about you. It's an opportunity to complete whatever task God gives you with a mindset that says, "It's not about what you can do for me, but what I can do for you." Remember we exist for God's glory and no one else!
